Article 247 on Joyprime is a Filipino series talks about the different face of drama that will tackle the story of a woman who left her problematic past and is on her way to rebuild her life, and another who has a dark secret behind her beauty.
Article 247 On Joyprime, Full story summary
Jane discovers that Alfred’s psychopathic wife, Klaire, is cheating on him. Jane comforts Alfred, and in the process, they become intimate.
Klaire catches them in the act and stabs them immediately. Jane survives but Alfred dies. Klaire is tried for Alfred’s death. Her defense is that her crime was a crime of passion.
She is found guilty and is sentenced to banishment and disappears.
In the meantime, Jane moves to the province where she falls in love with Noah.
However, her traumatic past comes back to haunt her when she meets Carmen, Noah’s sister-in-law who looks exactly like Klaire.
Although Carmen denies that she is in fact Klaire, Jane is determined to uncover the truth.
As she investigates, Jane stumbles upon shocking discoveries about Carmen, and what really happened on the night Alfred was murdered.
Article 247, What Does the law says.
“Any legally married person who having surprised his spouse in the act of committing sexual intercourse with another person, shall kill any of them or both of them in the act or immediately thereafter, or shall inflict upon them any serious physical injury, shall suffer the penalty of destierro.”
Penalty Of Destierro
Destierro means banishment or only a prohibition from residing within the radius of 25 kilometers from the actual residence of the accused for a specified length of time.
While it is technically not imprisonment, it still is a penalty imposed under the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.
The duration of destierro is the same as prision correccional, which is six (6) months and one (1) day, to six (6) years. Based on the duration of offenses, it is higher than arresto mayor, which has a duration of one (1) month and one (1) day, to six (6) months.
