Shefali Jariwala, Known as Kapalika in Evil Affairs, Dead at 42
Actress and model Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the “Kaanta Laga” girl, has died tragically at the age of 42. Reports indicate she suffered a cardiac arrest on the night of June 27, 2025, and was rushed by her husband, Parag Tyagi, and three others to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. However, doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Following her passing, her body was taken to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem, and Mumbai Police along with a forensic team visited her Andheri residence to investigate the circumstances. Hospital staff confirmed she had already expired before reaching the facility.
Shefali’s final Instagram post, made just days before her death, featured a dazzling silver jumpsuit, captioned “Bling it on, baby”—a post that has since gone viral amid an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow celebrities.
Known for her striking debut in the 2002 remix Kaanta Laga, Shefali quickly rose to fame. She later appeared in the Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and returned to public attention as a contestant on Bigg Boss 13. She also participated in the dance reality shows Nach Baliye 5 and 7 alongside her husband Parag Tyagi.
In earlier interviews, Shefali spoke openly about battling epilepsy since the age of 15. She had credited stress and anxiety as major triggers for her seizures. Despite the challenges, she managed her condition for many years, though it sometimes limited her career opportunities.
Shefali was also best known among African television audiences for her compelling performance as Kapalika in the Starlife series Evil Affairs, a role that further cemented her status in the hearts of Zee World and Starlife viewers.
Her death has left the entertainment industry and her fans in deep shock. Singer Mika Singh, a close friend, expressed profound grief, saying he “still can’t believe it,” and recalled their long friendship. Fellow Bigg Boss 13 contestant Tehseen Poonawalla described her passing as “so short,” adding, “Life is so short.”
Mika Singh wrote on social media: “I’m deeply shocked, saddened, and feeling a heavy heart… Our beloved star and my dearest friend Shefali Jariwala has left us. Still can’t believe it. You will always be remembered for your grace, smile, and spirit. Om Shanti.”
Shefali Jariwala was born on December 15, 1982, in Bombay. She married musician Harmeet Singh in 2004 and divorced in 2009. She later married actor Parag Tyagi in 2015.
Her sudden passing is a profound loss to Indian pop culture. Fans will always remember her charisma, talent, and the trail she blazed for female artists in music videos and reality TV.
