The Influence of foreign series in Africa is a broad topic to discuss, foreign series have gained a lot of respect in Africa as a result some production companies in Africa have remade some of the most popular series across the world, some also can’t be called a remake but we can’t deny there are some similarities “lookalike”. Focusing on drama series we are going to talk about a few.
1. Accra Medic
Accra Medic is a drama series produced by Revele Productions Ghana, the series is on its second season streaming on DSTV’s Akwaaba Magic and ShowMax. It has not been started anywhere as a remake but looking at the plot and flyers, Accra Medic is somehow similar to the Colombian series “Enfermeras” popularly known as “Nurses” produced by RCN production. Nurses is also in its 3rd season on Telemundo Africa.
2. Deceptive Measures
Deceptive measures was produced by Zee Studios International in 2020, some of the cast from these series are from Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana. Deceptive measures is a confirmed remake of the popular Indian series “Pavitra Ristra” popularly known as “Sacred Ties” on zee world. Both the original and remake was produced by the same company.
3. Mehek (The Gabela Family)
South African version of the popular Indian series “Zindagi Ki Mehek” was produced by Zee African, the series run alongside the original version and was released in 2019 on Zee World.
