Beautiful strangers on Joyprime Episode 1,
We started the show with Kristine’s birthday, and she was eagerly waiting for her father to arrive. Just before she started nagging her mother, her father arrived and gave her a stethoscope for her birthday because Kristine wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Kristine asked her daddy where his things were because that was her actual birthday wish, and he had promised to spend her birthday with them. Ronaldo (the dad) made an excuse that he had to go back to work but would spend the day with her. Kristine and her parents were enjoying their time during the party when a very angry woman pulled up and marched into the party.

She is Alejandra and happens to be Ronaldo’s very rich wife. She caused quite a scene at the party as Ronaldo tried to contain her but failed. She called Kristine illegitimate and her mother, Lourdes, a mistress while threatening to take Ronaldo’s money away because he owed everything he had to his parents. She asked Ronaldo to choose between her and his illegitimate family, and Ronaldo ended up running after her, leaving Kristine and her mother behind. Lourdes was left with the task of explaining to her daughter what the words illegitimate and mistress meant and why the woman had claimed to be her father’s wife instead of her mother.
When Ronaldo and Alejandra arrived home, they were shouting at each other, and their young son Lawrence had to listen to their shouting match as Alejandra made Ronaldo swear that he would never go back to his mistress again. The next day, Ronaldo’s friend warned him against angering his wife because Alejandra’s parents could pull out the money they had invested in their business. Just then, Lourdes called Ronaldo to tell him to go to the house to visit Kristine because she was not feeling well, but his wife Alejandra had to walk in on that conversation. She asked Ronaldo who he was talking to and snatched the phone away from him. She heard Lourdes on the other line and told Ronaldo to tell her what he had promised her the previous night.
Ronaldo told Lourdes that it was over between them and to stop using Kristine to get his attention, then he hung up. After that, Alejandra left Ronaldo’s office and went to see Lourdes. She threw her out of the house without letting her take anything. Ronaldo had followed Alejandra so that he could stop her but he ended up in a severe car accident as he tried to pass a red light. Lourdes went to stay at her sister’s house who she promised that her issue with Ronaldo would be resolved and she would leave after a few days. It was Ronaldo’s friend who went to see Lourdes and told her that Ronaldo wanted nothing to do with her but he had actually followed Alejandra’s request because he did not want to lose the business. When Lourdes went home, Kristine insisted on knowing what her father had said so her mother told her that her dad would no longer take care of them. Lourdes’ sister was not happy with this and took Kristine with her to Ronaldo’s house so that they could confront him. When they got to the gate, Kristine saw her father sitting outside and tried to call out to him.
Since Ronaldo had just taken his medicine, he was not able to hear Kristine calling out to him. Lawrence, who did hear Kristine, went to tell his mother. When Alejandra went to the gate, she found that Lourdes had joined the party but she was trying to make them leave. Kristine, however, wanted to stay and talk to her dad. Alejandra told them to leave, but when they did not, she demanded that their vicious dog be let out of the cage. The dog did the trick because he chased Lourdes, her pregnant sister, and Kristine out of the premises. He even bit Lourdes on the cheek, and she had to seek medical attention afterward. Lourdes was treated but left with a nasty scar on her cheek. Since Lourdes surmised that Ronaldo would no longer take care of them, she and Kristine moved in with her sister full time, and she took up sewing to get Kristine through school.
We were then introduced to Joyce and her family. She had an infant sibling, and her parents were plagued with debt so her father took up work abroad in Saudi Arabia to support the family. After a while, though, he stopped responding to his wife’s calls, and she had nothing to tell the debtors when they came knocking at her door. They threatened to take Joyce with them if her mother did not have the money with her the next day, so Joyce’s mother packed a few things with her and ran away with her children. They were almost caught by the henchmen, but a homeless woman hid them. They were able to flee and went to rent out a small room as they planned on what they would do to make a living.
